So long Wynwood – Hello Little Haiti.  After more than a decade of building a following, Wynwood galleries are opting out of skyrocketing rents and gentrification of the popular Wynwood warehouse district in favor of ownership and lower costs per square foot of it’s neighbor to the north, fondly referred to as Little Haiti.   Signs of Little Haiti’s impending transformation are everywhere.” reports Brett Sokol in his recent New York Times article.

Dominant Galleries owners Fredric Snitzer and David Castillo led the retreat from the warehouse district early on, with Snitzer choosing a location further downtown and Castillo heading across the causeway to Lincoln road, but the majority of cutting edge galleries seem to be migrating north to Little Haiti.

Among those pioneering galleries are Gallery Diet, Yeelen Gallery and Emerson Dorsch Gallery, & Spinello Projects all joining forerunners Gucci Vuitton and influential artists like Edouard Duval Carré

For Miami art patrons, this means one more arts district to add to your list of growing locations in South Florida.
